I was worried that this pad wouldn’t be large enough for the Mavic 3. I was really hoping it would work because when folded up it fits in the bag that came with the Mavic 3. The next larger size would not fit. On my first two flights, the drone did not land on the landing pad. After reading more about precision landing, I learned it was a user error. It is important to allow the drone to update the home point after takeoff, but then also fly above 7 meters and hover there a few seconds for it to update again. The drone remembers this image for landing. It helps to choose whichever color is a greater contrast the the surface it sits on. For example, orange is better than blue on a gray stone. You should also be connected to more than 12 satellites before takeoff.
After I learned to hover above 7 meters briefly, the drone lands on the pad every time. You can see in the attached photo how the Mavic 3 hit the pad on landing and fits within the circle. I’m glad I chose this size.
I haven’t had to use the stakes in windy conditions yet, but they look useful. I’ve only had this a few weeks, but it looks like it will be durable.
